How to Search Form Fields
Forms use searchable selectors when you need to connect a client, contact, project, invoice, milestone, or team member.
Opening a Searchable Field
Select the field to see the five most recent available records. This keeps the initial list short while still giving quick access to recent work.
Finding a Record
- Open the field and type part of the name or label in the search box.
- Review the matching results and select the correct record.
- Clear the field when the relationship is optional and you no longer want a record selected.
Using the Keyboard
- Press Enter or the down arrow to open the field.
- Use the up and down arrows to move through results.
- Press Enter to choose the highlighted result.
- Press Escape to close the results without changing the selection.
Fields That Depend on Another Choice
Some choices update the records available in another field. For example, selecting a client can update its projects and contacts, while selecting a project can update its milestones. Make the first choice before searching the dependent field.
Tip:
If a record is not in the first five results, start typing. Search checks all records currently available to that field.
