How to Create a Project

Projects in retaincoda represent work you do for clients. Each project can have milestones, tasks, expenses, updates, and linked invoices — giving you a complete view of the engagement.

Step 1: Navigate to Projects

Click "Projects" in the sidebar under Delivery, then click "New Project".

Step 2: Fill in Project Details

  • Project Name (required) — A descriptive name for the project.
  • Client (required) — Select the client this project belongs to.
  • Status — The initial status (e.g. Not Started, In Progress, On Hold, Completed).
  • Start Date — When the project begins.
  • End Date — Expected completion date.
  • Budget — The total project budget.
  • Description — Details about the project scope and objectives.

Step 3: Save the Project

Click "Create Project". You'll be taken to the project detail page where you can start adding milestones, tasks, and more.

Creating from a Template

If you have project templates set up, you can create a project from a template which pre-populates milestones, tasks, expenses, and checklists — saving significant setup time.
