How to Convert a Lead to a Project

When a lead is ready to become active work, you can convert it directly into a project (and a client, if one doesn't already exist). This creates the project and client records automatically using the lead's data.

Step 1: Open the Lead

Go to Leads and click on the lead you want to convert.

Step 2: Click "Convert to Project"

On the lead detail page, click the "Convert to Project" button. A conversion form will appear.

Step 3: Review and Confirm

The form is pre-filled with data from the lead. Review the following:

  • Client Name — From the lead's name/company. If a matching client already exists, you can link to them instead of creating a new one.
  • Project Name — Defaults to the lead name. Edit if needed.
  • Project Details — Add any additional project information.

Step 4: Complete the Conversion

Click "Convert". retaincoda will:

  1. Create a new client (or link to an existing one).
  2. Create a new project linked to that client.
  3. Update the lead status to "Converted".

You'll be redirected to the new project where you can start adding milestones, tasks, and other details.

💡 Tip:

If you just need a client record without a project, use Convert to Client instead.
